The Rector's Speech

Delivering His Speech, the Rector Prof. Joshua Alabi highlighted on some the major achievements of the Institute; he said that in spite of the lack of requisite infrastructure and facilities coupled with the long period of developmental neglect, the Institute has stood tall in the provision of Professional Accountancy and management education in Ghana.

He also said with determination to transform the Institute and to meet the needs of Industry and Commerce, steps were taken to introduce degree programmes in Accounting, Business Administration and Marketing in the year 2005. The Institute expanded its programme-portifolio to include a Bachelor of Science Degree in Banking and Finance, and Tertiary Diploma in Business Administration with options in Accounting, Management and Marketing as well as Diploma in Public Relations Management.

Further to this, the Rector mentioned that a headway has been made in the process of gaining accreditation for its new MBA and MSc programmes  and that IPS intends to officially launch its Master’s Degree Programmes in September 2009.

He also said the Institute is firming up negotiations with some leading institutions of higher learning overseas such as Duquesne University in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania and Swiss Management center (SMC) for collaboration to offer the Master’s Programmes.

Prof. Joshua Alabi paid tribute to all the individuals who helped to shape IPS to its present status; these included Visionary founder, Mr. Opoku Ampomah and the immediate past Rector of the Institute Rev. Fr. J.  J. M. Martey.

In his closing remarks, the Rector said IPS is entering a new era, one that shows great promise and the institute is poised to build learning and research communities that will be a benchmark for local and global innovation. He also cautioned that the achievements of the Institute remind them of the effort of past generations and it also place on them the responsibility to create an enabling environment for the future generations whose future may rely on the institute: and to build a vibrant Institute that will participate in shaping the future of Business Professional Education in Ghana and the world.
