The IPS Library is the central nerve of the Institute of Professional Studies, Legon; it plays a very important role in the academic life on campus. It is located on the first floor of the Administration/Library Block.

    The IPS Library, with its rich and diverse collection of materials serves the teaching, research and administration staff and students as well as the library’s external users.

    The collection of books, periodicals and other materials provides you essential back ground to the courses pursued at the Institute.  

    As a student you have to expose yourself to an inescapable quality reading in order to take your certificate, diploma or to do this you must be prepared to go beyond the minimum reading required, and explore the resources of the Library to the fullest extent if you are to maximize .

    Library Regulations

     Hours of Opening
    i)          Semester Time:
                            Monday to Friday       –          8:30 am -    10:00 pm
                            Saturday                     –         9:00 am -    3:00 pm

    ii)         Vacation period:
                            Monday to Friday       –          8:30 am -    10:00 pm
                            Saturday and Public holidays - Closed                    

    Loan of Books
    i)          Any book may be borrowed except the following:

    ii)         Books Marked REFERENCE

    iii)        Newspapers

    iv)        Encyclopedias and Subject Dictionaries

     Course Manuals

    • A student may borrow one book for two weeks, renewable only once during the
    • semester. No borrowing is allowed during vacation.
    • Borrowing and /or returning of books shall stop an hour before the official closing time.
    • Senior Members may borrow up to four for (4) books for four (4) weeks. However, a book may be recalled after two weeks if the circumstances of the Library so demand.

               
    Care of Books

    • All library material should be treated with the care they deserve.
    • No book is to be written in, cut or damaged in any way .Any defect or damage should be reported to the library staff immediately.
    • Readers and borrowers shall be held  responsible for any loss of or damage to a book in their charge and shall be required to pay the assessed cost of the book (s)plus a service charge not less than ¢5000.00 per item.
    • Borrowers should report at once the loss of any item and if not found, the borrower shall pay the assessed cost of the lost item
