Mr. Joshua Alabi is an Associate Professor in International Marketing and currently the Rector of the Institute of Professional Studies (IPS). He was appointed to the position of Rector of the Institute in January 2009. A graduate of three prestigious institutions – Moscow Institute of National Economy (Russian Academy of Economics, Plekhanov) , Strathclyde University, Glasgow, United Kingdom, and Kharkov State University, Kharkov, Ukraine Republic. Professor Alabi holds a double Masters Degree in Industrial Economics and International Marketing.
He has over twenty two years experience in professional practice as a lecturer, and previously taught in the Marketing Department at the Institute of Professional Studies. He served as Head of the Marketing Department and subsequently, Dean of the Management Faculty of the Institute. Prof. Alabi has publications in the area of Political Marketing, Marketing of Infant food and Micro-finance.
Professor Alabi has tremendous experience and glowing history of involvement in both National and International politics as well as deep knowledge in Football Administration at both global and national levels. He was a member of the Management Board of the Ghana Football Association, Coordinator of the Senior National Team, The Black Stars, Member of Parliament and a Minister of State of the Republic of Ghana for two regions
Professor Alabi is a member of the Institute of Professional Studies Governing Council and serves on various Statutory Committees of the Council including the, Finance Committee, Academic Board, and Executive Committee among others. He has chaired several other Committees of the Institute of Professional Studies including, Housing Committee, Publications and Bookshop Committee, Research and Conference Committee, Library Committee, etc.
He is a member of the Chartered Institute of Marketing (CIM) Ghana and won the 1991/1992 Basheron Abiola Prize in Marketing at the University of Strathclyde. He is currently the chairman of the Governing Council of Accra Polytechnic, Chairman of the Ghana Book Development Council, member of the Ghana National Commission for UNESSCO and Chairman of the Social Science Committee of the Ghana National Commission for UNESSCO.
Professor Alabi is married with two children.
