ESTABLISHMENT OF DEGREE PROGRAMMES
The Degree Programme has been established by the Institute of Professional Studies (IPS), Legon in response to the mandate of the IPS Act 566 to provide tertiary education leading to the award of certificates, diplomas higher national diploma and degree programmes subject to such conditions as the authorities for tertiary education shall direct. Currently, the Institute is offering degree programmes in Accounting, Marketing and Administration. The programmes are specially designed to meet both the academic and professional needs of the public and private sectors of the economy. The curricula place a considerable emphasis on the development and use of analytical skills in problem solving, decision-making and implementation.
ACCREDITATION AND AFFILIATION
The Institute of Professional Studies has been accredited by the National Accreditation Board (NAB) to run degree programmes in Accounting, Marketing and Administration. And the affiliation process with the University of Ghana is far advanced.

The Faculty/Departments will require that candidates satisfy all general entry requirements.
CODING AND NUMBERING OF COURSES
All Degree courses have letter and number codes beginning with four letters and followed by three-digit. The range of numbers is as follows:
Level 100 Courses 101-112
Level 200 Courses 201-215
Level 300 Courses 301-312
Level 400 Courses 400-410
The third digit in the number code shall be defined as odd number for a course offered in the first semester. Even number for a course offered in the second semester. Zero for a course offered in both the first and second semesters.
Minimum and Maximum Workload Per Semester for Full-Time Studies
A full-time student shall be required to carry a minimum work load of 18 credits and maximum of 21 Credits per semester starting from Level 200 for all categories of students.
Under normal circumstances, students shall not be allowed to enroll for less than 18 credits except if it is to satisfy Institutional/Faculty/Departmental requirements.
Eligibility for Examination
A student shall be required to attend all lectures, tutorials, seminars and practicals and undertake all assignments as may be required by the Institute.
A student who is absent for a cumulative period of 21days from all lectures, tutorials, practicals and other activities prescribed for any course in any semester shall be deemed to have withdrawn from the course and therefore shall not be permitted to sit for the semester examination.
A student who does not fulfill the requirements for any course in any of the departments/faculties shall not be allowed to take the examination for that course.
A student, who does not take part in the Interim Assessment (IA) but managed to pass the end of semester examinations, will have his or her final end of semester results indicating Incomplete(IC) |
